Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Invisalign is a world-renowned brand of clear aligners, clear aligner systems use set of aligners over time to slowly move teeth into position. Braces work by tightening the tension of wires through brackets attached to the teeth. Invisalign uses scans to determine the end position of the teeth and periodically create new aligners over time to move the teeth.

Braces use brackets attached to the teeth and tensioning wires to align the teeth. Invisalign uses sets of aligners over time to achieve the same movement. Braces can be used for the majority of orthodontic cases whilst Invisalign has a more limited scope. Complex or large movement of teeth usually require braces.

In your personalised treatment plan we will provide information on how to maintain your aligners during and post treatment. We will provide you with cleaning solution and techniques for keeping your aligners clean and sanitary.

The first week of putting in aligners is going to be uncomfortable as your teeth get used to the new position they are being moved towards. Your jaw will adjust over time and you will get used to the aligners in your mouth.

You can drink water with the Invisalign aligners in your mouth, but you should always remove your aligners when consuming food. Chewing with the aligners in can cause damage. Its recommended to wear the aligners for as many hours as possible during the day.

All patients and treatments are different, your personalised treatment plan during your consultation will outline the assumed timeline for treatment. Each patient’s teeth responds differently to the aligners, the effectiveness of the treatment relies on the aligners being in the mouth as often as possible.
